All About Us The Sixties Museum is an Illinois 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation. We are a charitable and educational institution, dedicated to preserving and displaying, what is perhaps the most unusual decade ever. We attempt to preserve and share an unbiased, non-political view of the art, music, literature, fashion, political and social changes that are associated with the Sixties. The Sixties Museum, Inc. is dedicated to keeping those spirits alive and will provide general assistance to individuals and groups that also stand for these ideals. We are funded and furnished by us and you. Our goal is to share the magic and the spirit of the Sixties through youth education, support for learning, expansion of the arts and the recognition of ideals and goals. The Sixties Museum, Inc. is listed with GuideStar as a recognized charity. Information can be obtained at their website. Our Staff The Sixties Museum is run by a dedicated staff of directors and volunteers, who consider the preservation of the art, literature, music, politics and the history of the 60's, to be as much a "labor of love" as a job. Many of our staff have non-profit backgrounds, and with expertise in art, photography and preservation, our experienced personnel are determined to make all the great works of the Sixties available to future generations. Our president has over 30 years experience in the non-profit sector. Many of our board are "Children" of the 60's scene, with a unique perspective. Most of our staff grew up during those turbulent times. Our board brings real world experience into this undertaking, while trying to preserve the innocence of the time in an unbiased fashion. We utilize advisors who have experienced the Vietnam War, who played in rock bands, who protested with the greats, who fought for civil and women's rights, and who have political views on both sides of the fence. Our goal is to preserve and share the explosive changes, that altered the world. The Sixties Museum wants every bit of that time documented, not just what the media or Government published. In addition, the staff is working to turn our Virtual Web location into a permanent location you can visit. We appreciate your comments and suggestions. um. We can be reached at: Sixties Museum, Inc.
