The list is a combination of public vote on the museum's website, and unique contribution to the Ideals and Spirit that made the Sixties, the decade of change. This year's winners are: President John F. Kennedy Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Astronaut and Senator John Glenn Representative Bobby Seale Congressman Bobby Rush Peter Noone and Herman's Hermits Woodstock Legend and Vietnam Veterans advocate "Country" Joe McDonald Legendary Chicago 60's Diskjockey, Dick Biondi Jimy Sohns for G-L-O-R-I-A Author and Women's Liberation Icon, Betty Friedan Chicago Cubs Legend, Ernie Banks Of course, The Beatles The Sixties Museum will document and preserve all the events of that decade, including The Space Race, Vietnam, Civil Rights, Women’s Liberation, The Cold War and all the changes in lifestyle and music. The museum will use cutting edge technology to transport the visitor back forty years. It will include a toy museum, classrooms and a living Vietnam Memorial that will put a face to the name of those who served and died. Site selection is in progress and soon, The Sixties Museum will provide a previously unavailable, step back, into a decade filled with struggles and memories for countless baby boomers and their children.
